Of course if you are using the Mac headless then the lack of a Qobuz remote app makes things difficult. If it was me I would experiment with using the Qobuz desktop player downloaded to your Mac as a comparison. However I do not use HQ player but the dCS Mosaic version of the Qobuz API. Where original CDs are available, again there is no marked difference comparing like with like. I have compared purchased and downloaded albums from Qobuz with their streamed equivalents and find it difficult to tell them apart. This seems to me to be a local problem that you have either with your local ISP or your home network implementation. I do not use Qobuz USA and have that geographically appropriate for me Qobuz UK.Īssuming that both are equivalent I have never experienced the quality changes that you cite nor those quality changes relating to any (unrelated) video sources which you talk about. I've got Gigabit internet speed too - Chris from Lafayette 11:06:55 12/21/19 If that's true, then why does it occur only with Qobuz? - Chris from Lafayette 21:14:20 12/22/19 Well if you don't use it, how do you know it's compromised? - Chris from Lafayette 21:55:54 01/08/20 RE: What version of Audirvana are you using? - oldmkvi 08:58:57 01/03/20 What version of Audirvana are you using? - Ivan303 09:54:33 01/02/20 Yes - So far, I've noticed that I can't seem to pull up the detailed meta info - Chris from Lafayette 09:32:11 12/26/19 I just started Qobuz streaming with Audirvana yesterday - Chris from Lafayette 10:46:58 12/25/19Īs far as usability, it doesn't come close to the QOBUZ OS-X app. I've got Audirvana running on my Mac Mini and it streams QOBUZ fine. I've got Audirvana too - haven't tried the built-in Qobuz browser though - Chris from Lafayette 14:32:29 12/23/19 Thanks, Bob - it may be time for me to move on to 4.x now anyway - Chris from Lafayette 07:42:00 12/23/19 Regardless, I find Qobuz an invaluable resource for getting to know new recordings and other other recordings which I don't have residing on my hard drives in reasonably good sound. I wonder if the same thing happens with Qobuz? Both my Qobuz "app" and my HQ Player (for playing back downloaded and ripped files) reside on my Mac Mini and both go through the same external DAC - perhaps the HQ Player treats "the bits" in a different, better way than the Qobuz app does, but I'm not sure. Other times however, I consider Qobuz less good, and I wonder if this is because of high traffic on the network - it shouldn't make a difference, but I wonder if it's similar to watching videos during a time when the network is stressed: the video quality will drop and then sometimes (within the same video) the quality improves again and the video picture goes back to a superior state (presumably once the network congestion has died down). Sometimes, the Qobuz listening experience is fantastic, as in (for example) the latest remastering of Karajan's Bruckner Fifth, or Dudamel's LA Phil Nutcracker. Ive had Qobuz for awhile now and my experience with it is as follows:
